Feb. 3: COVID-19 positive case notification

Dear DCS community:

Today the Duanesburg Central School District was informed that a student in the Jr/Sr High School has tested positive for COVID-19. The individual was last in the building on Jan. 29. The district has taken immediate steps to notify Schenectady County Public Health Services, which indicated the need to quarantine several students and one staff member.  Our nurse has already notified those who are affected. If you have not been contacted, then you know that you and/or your child have not been in contact with the individual who tested positive.

At this time, DCS will remain open for in-person classes. We will continue to work closely with SCPHS and follow guidance from all public health agencies on maintaining a safe and healthy learning environment. Students who have been told to quarantine should participate in remote instruction each day.

We again remind you that we are following all of the necessary health and safety precautions outlined in our reopening plan, including mask-wearing, social distancing and enhanced cleaning and disinfecting. We will continue to work in close partnership with our public health partners.

We will communicate any necessary updates as needed. Please continue to be vigilant in handwashing, mask wearing and all other health and safety practices that prevent the spread of COVID-19. We appreciate your support, cooperation and partnership.

Sincerely,

Dr. James Niedermeier
Superintendent of Schools
