This year, 33 juniors and seniors from the Duanesburg Central School District are enrolled in the Career & Technical Education (CTE) program through Capital Region BOCES. Students can choose from 29 programs of study across nine career clusters — groups of occupations and industries connected by similar skills and interests. Depending on their program, students attend classes at either the Albany or Schoharie campus.
Through career exploration and hands-on learning opportunities at CTE, several Duanesburg seniors will graduate not only with diplomas, but also with jobs already secured.
During a May 20 ceremony at the Career & Technical Education Center–Albany Campus, seven Duanesburg seniors were recognized alongside 71 of their CTE classmates at the annual Capital Region BOCES National Signing Day. In front of more than 200 supporters from local businesses, labor organizations, schools and families, students signed letters of intent committing to work for local employers.
