Family Drop-Off & Pick-Up
Families who transport their children to and from school should use the designated family drop-off and pick-up loop and follow the procedures below to help keep arrival and dismissal safe and efficient for everyone.
Morning Drop-Off — 7:45 a.m.
Family drop-off begins at 7:45 a.m. For safety reasons, please do not line up before 7:45 a.m.
- Stay in line as you move around the circle. Please do not pull out of line or cut around other vehicles.
- Please remain in your vehicle unless it is absolutely necessary to get out.
- As soon as your vehicle is alongside the sidewalk, students may safely exit from the passenger side of the vehicle. You do not need to wait until you reach the top of the loop.
- If your child exits the vehicle before you reach the top of the loop, please remain in line and continue around the circle with the flow of traffic.
Afternoon Pick-Up — 2:40 p.m.
Family pick-up begins at 2:40 p.m. For safety reasons, please do not line up before 2:40 p.m.
Families who will be picking up their child from school should register with iSchoolRide, which we use to help coordinate a safe and efficient dismissal process.
During pick-up:
- Stay in line as you move around the circle. Please do not pull out of line or cut around other vehicles.
- Please remain in your vehicle.
- Students will be dismissed through the family pick-up process and should enter vehicles from the passenger side whenever possible.
Late Arrival
Students arriving after 8:00 a.m. must be accompanied into the building by a parent, guardian, or responsible adult. The adult must sign the student in at the Main Office before the student proceeds to class.
Please do not drop students off at the entrance unattended after 8:00 a.m.
Early Pick-Up
Students being picked up before 2:40 p.m. must be signed out through the Main Office by the parent, guardian, or authorized adult picking them up.
For the safety of all students, children will only be released once the adult picking them up has arrived at the Main Office and completed the sign-out process.
Changes to Afternoon Transportation
We know that occasionally plans change! For safety reasons, any changes to a child’s afternoon transportation must be communicated to the Elementary Office by 12:00 p.m.
Please complete the Change of Dismissal Slip Form and send it to school with your child, or scan and email the completed form to klargeteau@duanesburg.org.
Providing changes by noon gives our office team time to communicate updated dismissal plans to the appropriate staff and ensure each student gets where they need to go safely.
Thank you for helping us keep arrival and dismissal safe, smooth, and efficient for all DES students and families!
