Best of luck to our Duanesburg varsity bowling team and head coach Chris Wyanski at sectionals on Friday, February 11 at Boulevard Bowl in Schenectady.

The team is coming off of the recent WAC Championship tournament, in which junior Tyler Drexel earned the title of League Co-MVP. Wyanski – who has coached the team for seven years – says Tyler has been on the varsity team since 7th grade and currently is averaging about 207.

Congratulations are also in order for the two seniors on the bowling team – Jacob Galvin and Hayley Silva (“Spare Queen,” as Coach Wyanski calls her).

Our bowling team has excelled in the classroom this year too. They were named a NYPHSAA Scholar-Athlete team (team’s average GPA for 75% of the roster must be greater than or equal to 90) and ALL NINE athletes were named to the honor roll this last quarter:

  • High Honor Roll:  Brady Canning (gr. 8), Tyler Drexel (gr. 11), Jacob Galvin (gr. 12), Carter Hopkins (gr. 7), Morgan Malpezzi (gr. 8), Noah Peterson (gr. 7), Victoria Silva (gr. 10)

  • Honor Roll:  Ian MacDougal (gr. 11) and Hayley Silva (gr. 12)

With nearly half the team made up of 7th and 8th graders, Coach Wyanski complimented the growth that his younger bowlers have shown this season. “Our younger kids have improved so much this year. I’m excited to see their contributions to this team in the coming years,” he said.
