Four junior student-athletes from DCS recently had the opportunity to participate in the 11th Annual Student-Athlete Leadership Conference at the Clark Sports Center in Cooperstown. The event, hosted by Cooperstown Central School District, gathered 420 students from 64 school districts, representing Sections II, III, and IV.

Duanesburg representatives included Helen Kosier, Natalie Tilton, Andrew Palluti, and AJ Sindoni. Our Eagle athletes were accompanied by DCS Athletic Coordinator Brett Simpson and high school counselor and coach, Joshua Moeckel.

Throughout the day-long session, students participated in leadership workshops and heard from inspiring speakers who encouraged them to lead by example both on and off the field, including Sandy Zimmerman, former Division I basketball player for Gonzaga University and American Ninja Warrior who presented: “From Welfare to Ninja Warrior: 5 Key Ingredients to Achieving Big Dreams and Goals.”

During the conference, athletic directors and coaches visited the Baseball Hall of Fame, where they participated in several workshops that provided opportunities to network with other districts while continuing to develop skills to enhance their athletic programs.
