In this position, she will work closely with Principal Jodi Marvin to support student success, foster a positive school climate, and help align academic and behavioral expectations across both middle and high school levels.

Shedina is enthusiastic about the opportunity to work with a wider range of students in more diverse ways.

“Previously, I was proud to help students grow as writers and gain confidence in the classroom,” she said. “Now, I have the chance to support students individually—not just as a teacher and cheerleader, but as part of a cohesive school experience.”

Principal Marvin is equally excited to have Shedina as a partner this school year, noting her ability to connect with students as one of her greatest strengths. “Ms. Shedina is exceptional at building meaningful relationships with students while holding them to high expectations,” she said. “Her compassion, consistency, and commitment to student growth make her a valued and integral member of our leadership team here at Duanesburg.”

Shedina has been a part of the DCS community for seven years. Before joining Duanesburg, she spent four years teaching at Charlotte Valley Central School in Davenport, NY. The opportunity to work at Duanesburg allowed her to be closer to family.

She holds a Bachelor’s degree in English with a concentration in creative writing from Hartwick College and a Master’s degree in Adolescent Education (English) from The College of Saint Rose. In addition, she earned School Building Leadership and School District Leadership certifications from Saint Rose.

Shedina also serves in a vital leadership role as the Dignity for All Students Act (DASA) Coordinator for grades 6–12 at DCS. In this position, she helps implement the New York State law designed to prevent harassment, bullying, and discrimination, working to ensure a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for all students.

“Advocating for students is a deep passion of mine, and my leadership roles as Dean of Students and DASA Coordinator give me the opportunity to do that in meaningful ways,” Shedina said. “These roles allow me to continue building strong, impactful connections with students. We have wonderful students here at Duanesburg, and I’m grateful to be part of their journeys.”

“Promoting Ms. Shedina to the role of Dean of Students is a meaningful step toward strengthening the overall student experience at Duanesburg,” said Superintendent of Schools Kimberly Ross. “With sixth grade joining the Jr.-Sr. High School this year, the timing was ideal to expand our leadership team with a position focused on student support. Ms. Shedina brings a wealth of institutional knowledge, strong relationships with students, and a deep commitment to their success—qualities that make her exceptionally well-suited for this role.”
