26 seniors from Duanesburg Central School District recently graduated from various BOCES’ Career & Technical Education (CTE) programs offered at the Schoharie and Albany campuses. The ceremonies marked the completion of one- and two-year programs at the school, including Building Trades, Culinary, Cosmetology, Heavy Equipment Repair and Operation [HERO], Criminal Justice, Electrical Trades, Two-Year Sequence of Health Careers, Automotive Trades Technology, and more.

Several Duanesburg students earned classroom awards, highlighting their growth, achievement, hard work, and perseverance. Two DCS seniors – Jeffrey Mulhern and Wyatt Moss – were each selected to be speakers at the Schoharie campus graduation ceremony and were honored as the 2025 Capital Region BOCES Faculty Association Schoharie Career and Technical Education Center Students of the Year. Moss is a graduate of the Criminal Justice Program and Mulhern is a graduate of the Heavy Equipment Repair and Operation program.

Moss, who was active in the SkillsUSA program and competed at the state SkillsUSA competition, will attend the State University of New York at Albany pursuing a degree in information technology. He said BOCES has given him a strong base of knowledge and skills to pursue his future.

“BOCES is allowing me to pursue my life with the strongest base I can,” he said. “I have learned from professionals from the industry.”

Mulhern, who was also active in SkillsUSA and competed at the state SkillsUSA competition, is attending the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry in the fall. An aspiring construction business owner, Mulhern currently operates his own landscape business Mulherns. Like Moss, Mulhern credits BOCES with making him the student he is today.

“BOCES provides you with an environment like a work schedule. You show up on time, have a task to do every single day, and you get that task done. It’s comforting being in a setting where everyone is really driven. That encourages you to be hard-working and be a better person,” he said.

“BOCES has given me the opportunity to spend two days a week (sometimes more) working in the field, gaining real hands-on experience. That’s something I think more students should take full advantage of—being out there, getting their hands dirty, and learning what it means to show up, work hard, and learn from mistakes. It’s a crucial part of understanding the reality of the workforce. Work-based learning has been a key factor in my growth, and I am thankful for the chance to experience it firsthand,” Mulhern added.
