Show your Duanesburg spirit and have a great time cheering on the Eagles and Helderberg Valley teams. All are invited to celebrate Homecoming & Spirit Week 2018 at DCS Sept. 24-29.
Events tee-off on Monday with a 4 p.m. golf match at Hillcrest Golf Course on Giffords Church Road. Come watch the Section 2 champs as they command the links and take on Berne-Knox-Westerlo (BKW).
On Tuesday, cheer on the girls and boys modified and varsity cross country team in meets vs. Mayfield and Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville (OESJ) at the new track at the elementary school at 4:15 p.m.; the JV volleyball team at 4:30 p.m., varsity volleyball team at 6 p.m. and modified soccer team at 4:30 p.m. vs. BKW at the high school, and the varsity swim team at 4:30 p.m. vs. Academy of the Holy Names the Duanesburg YMCA.
And there’s lots more ways to show your spirit. On Wednesday, the girls varsity soccer team will take on OESJ at 4:30 p.m. at the high school. On Thursday, with a theme of Big Purple Growl / Lets Get Loud!, the modified football team takes on Holy Trinity at the elementary field, and at 6 p.m., the varsity volleyball team takes on Mekeel at the high school. Wear as much purple as possible.
Friday’s activities at the high school fields include a boys varsity soccer game vs. BKW at 4:25 p.m. and a girls varsity soccer game vs. Fort Plain. With a theme of Friday Night Lights / Light It Up!, the festivities also will include a presentation of the flag by the Scouts, the national anthem sung by a DCS student, team introductions and half-time play by the Duanesburg AYSO travel teams. Food will be available from High on the Hog BBQ and Mr. Ding A Ling and hotdogs and hamburgers will be for sale. Homecoming t-shirts will be available for $10.
On Saturday, Sept. 29, a Bigs vs. Kids Golf Outing begins at 8 a.m. at Hillcrest Golf Course. At 1 p.m., the varsity football team takes on Chatham at the elementary field, with a theme of Black Out – wear black clothing and come a bit early to take part in drawings. Enjoy lots of good food including soup, chowder and a chili cook-off, and fun. Homecoming t-shirts will be available for $10 and spirit goodies and snacks will be for sale.
