UPK in Duanesburg
Duanesburg Central School District offers a free, universal pre-kindergarten (UPK) program for children living in the district. The program is funded by a state grant aimed at increasing the availability of UPK for local families, boosting literacy and preparing children for kindergarten and beyond.
There is no cost to families, but they must provide their own transportation.
Enrollment priority is given to children who qualify for free and reduced price meals, with the of program openings to be filled on a lottery basis.
Background on our program
Beginning in March 2019, the UPK program is offered for 4-year-old children at Whispering Pines Preschool at 2841 Thousand Acres Road in Delanson. The March through June 2019 program, which had 8 slots, ran from 8:45 a.m. – 2:15 p.m. on school days.
UPK – Fall 2019
For the 2019-20 school year, 26 UPK slots will be available at Duanesburg Elementary School and Whispering Pines.
Starting next fall, UPK will be offered at Duanesburg ElementarySchool and Whispering Pines, with 26 slots available for the 2019-20 school year. The hours of the fall program are still being determined.
DCS is working with the Duanesburg Y to potentially offer aftercare services for UPK students next fall.

It is a not-for-profit agency that provides support and education on disabilities, special education and services, and it is designated as a Technical Assistance Center by the New York State Education Department.
