Welcome to our Littlest Learners webpage, which focuses on children from preschool age through second grade.
UPK in Duanesburg
Duanesburg Central School District offers a free, universal pre-kindergarten (UPK) program for children living in the district. The program is funded by a state grant aimed at increasing the availability of UPK for local families, boosting literacy and preparing children for kindergarten and beyond.
There is no cost to families, but they must provide their own transportation.
Enrollment priority is given to children who qualify for free or reduced price meals, with the rest of program openings to be filled on a lottery basis.
Background on our program
The UPK program began in March 2019 with openings for for 4-year-old children at Whispering Pines Preschool at 2841 Thousand Acres Road in Delanson. Starting in September 2019, UPK is also being offered at Duanesburg Elementary School. A total of 26 UPK slots are offered available at these locations for the 2019-20 school year. The hours of the fall program are still being determined. DCS is working with the Duanesburg Y to potentially offer aftercare services for UPK students as well.
