Fourth-grade students flourish with flowers

October 20, 2010-- Fourth  grade students in Mrs. Goodwin's science class got the chance to study biology in a hands-on lesson thanks to Hannaford's generous donation of 80 lilies. The students were busy analyzing, reflecting, and dissecting the lilies in order to understand the inner workings of a flower. Doing this helped them understand how pollination, fertilization, and fruit formation happens. As one student excitedly remarked, "Science is ALIVE!" Mrs. Goodwin adds: "One of the best way for students to learn is through visual, real-life applications and a hand-on approach."
