Why do seniors have to pay for their senior pages in the yearbook? What if some can't afford it or get anyone to buy an ad?
![]()
To help offset the cost of producing a yearbook, students with senior pages are asked to sell ad space. However, not all seniors opt to have a senior page so they are not required to sell ads. Seniors are always encouraged to speak to the yearbook advisor and/or Mrs. DeLuke about any difficulties or concerns. This should be done in advance before the deadline to allow proper planning.

I was informed that the school recently found checks from last year's yearbook sales that were never cashed. Since you have this "found" money does that mean that the yearbook cost will be reduced this year? Also when are you going to bring back the old yearbooks with the entire school incorporated like we are a community and not outcasts.
![]()
The yearbook cost is approximately $35,000 per year. We need to
pre-order approximately 350 books per year with no ability to return
what is not sold. This drives the cost per yearbook. The actual cost
of the book is $100. Through ads and the Middle School dress up
dance, we offset the price of the book. Currently the cost is $45
during pre-sale. Any surplus and/or deficit (if we do not sell all
of the yearbooks) is carried forward in a fund for future years.
Each school building will continue to have their own yearbook. The
High School will continue to have the hard covered, full-color
publication. The Elementary School will have their own in black and
white. The current cost of the Elementary School yearbook is $10.

Where can I see the bill for last years yearbook costs? I would think this is certainly public information. I would like to compare. Have we switched yearbook companies? Like we switched our school attorney? And who knows what else in the last 18 months.

In order to have a senior page in the yearbook students are required to sell $300 in ads. This year's class has 78 kids. Does it really cost $23,400 to print the yearbook? This doesn't include the $45 sales price. This seems excessive.
![]()
It actually costs more than the amount mentioned above to produce and print the full-color yearbook. To help offset some of those costs, students with senior pages sell ad space. However, not all seniors opted to have a senior page this year so they are not required to sell ads. To make-up the difference, the yearbook is being sold for $45.

Is the price for the middle/high school yearbook really $50? Wasn't it less in previous years? And with the addition of a less-expensive elementary version (which is great), you'd think the price would go down.
![]()
In the past, the K-12 district yearbook was $40
pre-sale and $45 in June. This year, the hard cover, full-color
middle/high school yearbook was $45 pre-sale. After January 2009, the
price went up to $50. The cost went up this year due to increased
shipping and production costs.
The elementary school yearbooks will be printed in black and white with
a soft cover. They are $10 for orders made before May 1, and $15 after.
The goal behind creating two separate yearbooks this year was to make the yearbook more affordable for parents who do not have children in the middle/high school. Additionally, elementary students did not get a lot of coverage in the past, but this year's version should change that.
Feedback will be sought at the end of the year to evaluate the changes.
