I thought there was suppose to be a class picture included in the ismile packets we received? Was this not the case because it did say that was the case on the order form?
![]()
The elementary school will be getting a class picture. The iSmile organization prefers to include the retake pictures in the class composite. The re-takes were done recently, so parents should be seeing those shortly.

Why do some questions/comments not get posted?
![]()
The Eagle's Nest was created to provide people a place to pose their questions or comments that will help the district dispel rumors or other inaccurate information that may be circulating through the community.
Some questions and comments/personal opinions are not suitable for this public page. For example, we will NOT answer questions or post comments regarding individuals by name or questions/comments deemed to be inappropriate or inflammatory. We also will NOT publish comments that are inappropriate for a public setting. Some questions will not be answered.
For individual or private concerns, please contact the school or district office directly. If you would like to have a discussion about a particular issue, please direct your concerns to the appropriate individual. If you do not know who to contact regarding your concern, please refer to the Effective Communications Guideline web page to help direct you.

I've met quite a few families in the area that home school and do a great job. I also know the teachers do a great job. Has the district ever done a count of how many families in the area home school their children? Is there a program or outreach to those families if they would like to connect or collaborate with schools on projects or events?
![]()
Yes, we do keep a record of how many students in our district are home schooled. By law, parents who home school their children are required to submit all of their documentation for district approval and meet the required mandates. The district does not collaborate with parents that are home schooling their children, nor do their children participate in school activities or sports. Link to the Home Instruction Policy 8441.

Why is the Fall Carnival sign still up at the intersection in Duanesburg by Stewarts? The event was held on Sept. 26, I think the sign should have been removed a long time ago.
![]()
The person in charge of the carnival sign is planning to have it removed soon. She went to remove it herself, but it turns out the sign is much heavier and more cumbersome than it looks. She is in the process of getting someone to help her remove it. Your patience is appreciated.

When will the parent portal be completely up and running? Currently, for some classes you can look at homework and quizzes, but for others only the marking period average is available.
![]()
The portal is completely up and running. If a teacher does not have any assignments posted, the parent should contact that particular teacher directly. All teachers in grades 6-12 should be posting all assignments to the portal regularly.

Why are some questions not answered? I sent a question a few days ago but it has not been answered.
![]()
Eagle's Nest questions are e-mailed to our district's communications specialist and directed to the person who could best answer the question. The answer will be posted once the response has been received by the communications specialist, which is why some responses may take longer than others.
If a question has been asked that was already asked in the past, it will not be answered again. All previously asked questions and responses are filed in the archives which are located at the bottom of the page.
Please note that some questions and comments are not suitable for this public page. For example, we will not answer questions or post comments or complaints regarding individuals by name, or questions deemed to be inappropriate or inflammatory. Some questions will not be answered. For individual or private concerns, we urge you to contact the school or district office directly. Can middle/high school students come in before school starts to put supplies in their lockers? Also, will high school students have the same locker assignment as last year?
![]()
Yes, both high school and middle school students can come to school earlier than the first day to put supplies in their lockers. High school students have the same lockers from 9th grade through12th grade. Middle school students, however, are assigned new lockers for the coming school year. During homeroom on the first day of school, middle school students will receive their locker assignments and combinations. However, students can stop by the main office to receive their locker assignments and combinations prior to the start of school.

I'm interested in knowing how much the district paid for the parent portal? There is no up-to-date information on the portal, no report cards or past marking period information.
![]()
The Parent Portal is a free service through the E-school Student Management System. The portal is updated regularly. For instance, once report card and progress report data is entered into the e-school system, the Parent Portal also gets updated. Please note, the district can only post the most recent progress reports and report cards. Other information that can be obtained is your child's immunization chart, schedule, attendance record, and a calendar of school events.
Letters about how to register and access the
system were sent home with middle/high school students in February 2010.
You will need your child’s student identification number, which is
listed on report cards.
If you have any questions or need your child’s identification number,
please contact
Lucas Larkin at 518-895-5350, ext. 268.

Why are the questions on the Eagle's Nest edited from the original question?

They aren't always edited. Some are edited because they might need extra text so others understand the questions better. At other times, names or inappropriate comments need to be removed. Please refer to the top of this page for Eagle's Nest guidelines.

Do you know the origin of this "haunted
story":http://theshadowlands.net/places/newyork.htm
Duanesburg Central School - There have been two deaths at the High
school. Since then there have been doors that slam by themselves, odd
noises, and many orbs have been
caught on camera, especially in the gymnasium. Also at weekend sports
practices, students have claimed to see a figure run by the windows in
the hallways.
![]()
In the 1970s, a high school teacher died of natural causes in the gymnasium. We do not have a record of a second death in our schools. However, none of our school buildings, to the best of our knowledge, are haunted.
