CELL PHONES

Why is it that when a student’s cell phone is taken they are also asked to give the phone in with the battery? Shouldn't the student be able to take the battery out? The only reason I can think of for the office to also want the battery is to turn the phone on and look at it.

Response heading

It’s important to first note that cell phones are not supposed to be used during the school day. Students may bring cell phones to school, however, they must be turned off. Students may use the office phones and even request to use their cell phone in the office area (recognizing that some phone arrangements don't limit minutes when calling within their circle of numbers).

To answer your question, cell phones will be taken if a student is caught using one. Students do not need to remove the battery, but they are also not prevented from doing so. Staff members do not go through student cell phones.
