January 2012: Cheryll Parrotti
Cheryll was selected by her peers because of her kindness, dedication to the district and all around pleasant demeanor.
What
do you do at the district?
I am a custodian at the elementary school. I guess
you could say I teach students in grades K-5 how to be respectful of their
environment by picking up after themselves and helping keep the school clean!
When you were in high school, what did you want to be when you grew up?
When I was in high school I wanted to be a secretary when I grew up. But, I soon realized that I could never be in one place that long--I like to keep busy and be on the move.
Where did you go to college and what was your major?
Why did you decide to become a custodian?
I decided to become a custodian because I enjoy cleaning and working hard.
What do you like most about Duanesburg schools?
I like the small community and that everyone knows each other. I like the "family-centered" feeling you get being in the Duanesburg school system.
Where do you live?
I live in Schoharie with my husband and son.
What activity do you enjoy most in your free time?
I enjoy spending my free time with my grandchildren.
What is your greatest accomplishment so far?
My greatest accomplishment in life is my marriage of 45 years. I feel that life today is very trying, there are many obstacles and challenges, and it is very hard to succeed in everything. But I feel many successes start at home.
Who's your hero?
My hero is my mother. I am from a family of eight children, and she did everything. She worked outside of the home and still did all the cooking, cleaning, ironing, etc. By her example, I learned how to work hard and that hard work does pay off. My mother never asked for her. She is was a remarkable worman.
What is your favorite book?
Who are your top three favorite bands/musical artists?
I like to listen to country music. My favorite artists are George Strait, Alan Jackson and Trace Adkins.
What is your favorite food?
My favorite food is seafood.
What is your favorite Website?
I haven't found a huge interest in computers yet, so I don't have a favorite website.
What makes you laugh?
I laugh when I hear my grandchildren laugh. I love the laughter of little children!
