Leo Club provides flood relief in Schoharie

On Sunday, Sept. 18 Leo Club members Amanda Gemmiti, Maddy Kenyon, Ciara Fisher, Abby Schaible, Anna Winters, Lia Schettine, Stephanie Rice, Libby Aliberti, Tara Nunez, Olivia Ash, Caitlin Gurney, and Sara Chappell volunteered their time to help with clean-up efforts in Schoharie. The group was assigned to assist the Schoharie Colonial Heritage Association cleaning the historic Mill Building. This barn-like structure is over a hundred years old and was filled with mud as the flood waters receded.

The Duanesburg Leo Club plans to continue volunteering in Schoharie every Sunday throughout the fall season. Students who would like to join the Leo Club and participate in these service projects should attend the first Leo Club meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 21 at 3 p.m. in Room 116 at the high school.

Additionally, on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 16 and 17 Duanesburg High School Leo Club members joined forces with the local Lions Club for White Cane Day at NBT Bank in Duanesburg, which is an annual collection for Lions Club community projects. It was decided that all donations collected this year will be used to support flood relief in Schoharie County.
