Select Choir wins "Gold" award

MAY 2011--The Duanesburg High School Select Choir was awarded a Gold with Distinction at the NYSSMA Choral festival held on May 17 at Oneonta High School. The Choir performed at Level 5 with Level 6 being the most difficult.

"This is quite an accomplishment," says Music teacher Mira Ordin. "The choir has only received this rating one other time in 2006 and this was at a level 4. We are very proud of this achievement."

Gold Rating is awarded to organizations that have demonstrated an outstanding level of technical and artistic skill in each of the evaluation categories for all three performance selections. Any weakness in the musical performance will have been minimal. Gold with distinction is awarded to those who qualify for a Gold Rating as well as having achieved a standard of performance deemed exceptional in all three selections.

The evaluation categories include: tone, intonation, balance, technique, accuracy/execution, diction, interpretation, discipline/appearance and appropriate music choice.
