Students use words to reach out to military service members

December 2010—Ask anyone, but especially the men and women who are serving in our military and are stationed overseas, and you'll quickly find out how much they value a kind or supportive or encouraging message. Armed with understanding the power of words, Leo Club members decided to get involved in the Red Cross Holiday Mail for Heroes Program.

Student created and wrote their own greeting cards for service members and veterans. The students mailed nearly 100 holiday cards.

"It was a fun experience, everyone working together to make the cards, and I am sure the service members enjoy receiving the cards and being reminded of how much we appreciate them," said Senior and Leo Club President Nora Kanarkiewicz.
