DCS students participate in Music Festival
November 19-20, 2010-- Congratulations to the five DCS
High School Choir students participated in the Area All State Music Festival at
Saratoga High School.
Andrew Pogorzelski, Amanda Homer, Zach McKeeby, Jacob James and Noel Savoy were
all part of the Area All State Mixed Choir. The students were selected for this
competition based on their outstanding grades on their NYSSMA solos and teacher
recommendations. Each student earned a 90 or above on the highest level (level
6) at the NYSSMA solo competition in June.
DCS students rehearsed with students from several area schools who also met the
criteria. At the concert, which was Saturday, Nov. 20, the Mixed Choir received
a standing ovation for their outstanding performance, and the students were able
to perform in a beautiful state-of-the art auditorium.
Additionally, Jacob James will be performing in the Melodies of Christmas
concert at Proctor’s Theater December 16-19. He had to audition and was selected
from almost 200 applicants. Congratulations to Jake! This performance will be
aired on channel 6 throughout the holiday season.
"We are very proud of our student’s accomplishments," says Music Teacher Mira
Ordin. "We have a great deal of talent here at DCS."
