Board to Education adopts tax rates for 2010
August 2010—At an August meeting, the board of education adopted the tax rate for 2010.
The rates were calculated after receiving final assessment figures provided by the seven towns located within the school district and final equalization rates set by the state this summer.
This resulted in a tax rate increase of 1.03 percent in Duanesburg, which is 1.65 percent lower than originally projected at the time of the May budget vote.
The 2010 tax rates are as follows (all figures are per $1,000 of assessed value):
Duanesburg: $54.01
Charleston: $18.46
Knox: $29.80
Wright: $22.95
Princetown: $52.66
Florida: $32.05
Schoharie: $22.95
Tax rates are affected primarily by property assessments, as well as each town's equalization rate--a percentage level set by the state that compares property assessments in towns to real estate market value. Tax bills will be mailed around September 1, and are due by September 30 without penalty.
