Updated Nov. 23, 2009—The Duanesburg Central School District needs your help this holiday season to warm the hearts of those in need.

Please consider donating a new, unwrapped toy to the district's annual Toys for Tots campaign. Collection boxes will be available at all school buildings and the bus garage until Friday, Dec. 18.

Last year, a number of staff members opted to donate a toy in lieu of exchanging gifts with each other. Toys that have been donated in the past include games of children of all ages, stuffed animals, sports equipment and remote control cars.

Each school building is conducting promotions to help raise money or collect toys.

The middle/high school's hat day in November helped raised nearly $250. Two anonymous donations were made totaling $150. During the day, students were allowed to wear a hat to school for $1 with all proceeds donated to Toys for Tots.

The program is run through the United States Marine Corps, which will donate the toys to children in local communities whose parents cannot afford to buy them gifts for the holidays.
