Board of Education fills vacancy
Henry "Gus" Geidel to hold eight-month term of office
Oct. 7, 2009 – During the October 6 meeting, the Duanesburg
Board of Education appointed Henry “Gus” Geidel to fill a vacant seat on the
board. He replaces former board member John Iseman who resigned in June for
personal reasons.
New York state law allows school boards to fill such vacancies by appointment
until the next regular election in May.
Geidel will serve a term of eight months—until the next general election in May
2010. He received the fourth-highest number of votes in the May 2009 Board of
Education election. However, only three board seats were open at the time.
Geidel is manager of information services at Albany Medical Center and owner of
ConnX Consulting. He founded the Duanesburg Chapter of the American Youth Soccer
Organization in 2007. Since then, Geidel has served as a coach, administrator
and assistant regional coordinator. He also serves as the district’s junior
varsity boys’ soccer coach.
Geidel attended St. Lawrence University where he earned his bachelor's degree in
science and mathematics. He lives in Delanson with his wife, Heather.
