District welcomes new teachers

Sept. 14, 2009—Several new teachers joined the ranks of Duanesburg educators this school year. They include:

• Melinda Barnes, middle/high school foreign language teacher
• Cathleen Gordon, middle/high school science teacher
• Pamela Jackson, middle/high school math teacher
• Kate Lawler, high school business teacher
• Laura Risley, middle/high school English teacher

To help them become acquainted with the district, the new teachers attended an orientation program on Sept. 2, which included a welcome from the district’s administrative team. They also toured the 60 square-mile school district aboard a school bus, met with the Duanesburg Teachers Association representative, joined their mentors for lunch and spent the afternoon setting up their classrooms and finalizing lesson plans.
