District launches new website

June 1, 2010—Welcome to the newly redesigned Duanesburg Central School District website!

The new site was designed using input from residents who were invited to participate in an online survey earlier this fall. The district worked with Capital Region BOCES Communications Service for nearly a year to create a new website that is visually modern and user friendly while keeping the district’s traditions in place. For example, the new site still maintains such popular webpages as The Eagle’s Nest, calendar, board information, and athletics, to name a few.

The district is committed to providing timely and relevant information to the public, and the new site is evidence of that commitment and the district's goal to be the first and best source of information. The site will also help strengthen the district's focus on more electronic communications versus paper correspondence.

"Our goal is to make Duanesburg's website your first and best source of information about the district," said Superintendent Christine Crowley. "We believe the new site will help us reach that goal."

The new site meets today's industry standards for viewers using multiple Web browsers like Internet Explorer, Firefox and Safari. The new site also focuses on best-practices in Web communications and complies with state and federal accessibility guidelines, which allows disabled users who are either visually impaired or lack the fine-motor skills to use a mouse to navigate through the website. It also benefits those without disabilities using a slow Internet connection and mobile phone users.

The new site still features many popular pages from the previous site as well several new sections and more comprehensive information about our schools. For example, the new areas include more refined staff resources and health & safety sections, e-mail hyperlinks to district staff, an A to Z reference guide, a google search engine feature and an easy-to-navigate toolbar on all pages. Other features include a student and staff spotlight on and a homepage photo gallery.

Once you have a chance to peruse the site, we would love to hear from you. Please feel free to use the online feedback form to send us your questions, comments or suggestions. You may also e-mail the district's Communications Specialist Tara Mitchell.
