Students fulfill civic duty during budget vote

May 24, 2010—A group of high school students helped fulfill their civic duty by volunteering throughout the day of the budget vote. Many also voted for the first time.

Students informed voters exiting the polls about an anonymous and voluntary exit survey—offering them the opportunity to take a written survey or electronically using a nearby laptop computer.

Feedback will be used to help address misunderstandings and to help the district make informed decisions going forward. Voters provided information about their reasons for voting a certain way and their thoughts on the budget development process.

The survey will be analyzed by district staff, and a summary of findings will be posted online in the near future.

Many thanks to Steve Martin, Sean McMullen, Jackie Siegel, Megan Palmer, Rich Frank, Andrew Balog, Tamara Mosier, Neiman Ortiz, Jaime Warnke, Jared Weed, John Bard and Tyler Quintann for their help.
