May 18, 2010—Duanesburg Central School District residents approved the district’s $14,616,629 proposed budget for the 2010-11 school year by a margin of 489 yes votes to 335 no votes.

Results were announced shortly after the polls closed at 9 p.m.

Spending in next year’s budget is down 1.68 percent over the current year budget and carries an estimated tax rate increase of 2.68 percent for property owners in the Town of Duanesburg.

The district will set its final tax rates for the 2010-11 school year in August based on final assessment figures provided by each town’s assessor, and equalization rates as established by the state Office of Real Property Services.

Voters also approved a $198,925 bus proposition to purchase two 65-passenger school buses as part of the district’s long-term replacement plan. The vote was 464 yes votes to 355 no votes.

Voters re-elected board incumbents Carlos Moreno (599), Cecilia Tkaczyk (628) and Henry "Gus" Geidel (630) to the school board. They ran unopposed for three open board seats.
