Kindergarten registration

 

On Wednesday, March 14 at 6 p.m. in the Duanesburg Elementary School cafeteria, the district will host a Kindergarten Parent Information Night in an effort to help parents get a better understanding of the Kindergarten screening process, review the paperwork that must be completed prior to registration and learn more about the importance of kindergarten readiness. If your child will be entering kindergarten in the fall of 2012, we encourage you to attend this event. We hope to see you there!

Registration for the 2012-13 kindergarten classes at Duanesburg Central School will be held Tuesday, March 27 and Wednesday, March 28 from 3-4 p.m. at the elementary school, 165 Chadwick Road, Delanson, NY.

A scheduled mailing with required registration documentation will be mailed on Monday, Jan. 30 and all paperwork is due back on March 2. The mailing is based on the census completed in 2007. Is my child eligible for kindergarten?

To be eligible to enter kindergarten in the fall, children must be 5 years old by December 1, 2012.

What do I need to do to register my child for kindergarten?

A birth certificate or other legal proof of age, guardian/ custodial documentation, immunization records, and three proofs of residency, (as outlined in Residency Requirements/Proof of Residency), are required at the time of registration.

Also, state law requires that children have the following immunizations BEFORE they can enter kindergarten:

  • > 3 doses of diphtheria;
  • > 3 doses of polio;
  • > 3 doses of hepatitis B;
  • > 2 doses of MMR (measles, mumps, rubella); and 
  • > 1 dose varicella (chicken pox) vaccine.

Parents of incoming kindergarten children in the district who have not received registration forms in the mail by Feb. 6 need to contact the elementary school office at 895-2580 as soon as possible to complete a census form and registration documentation. [DOWNLOAD CENSUS FORM]
